Getting a Michelin Star is the top goal for many restauranteurs. Only the best receive them and this year, the Michelin Guide inspectors visited Florida. The Michelin Star event was hosted at the Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes where the inspectors announced which restaurants in Orlando, Miami, and Tampa had earned the coveted Michelin star.

What Is a Michelin Star?
A Michelin Star is a coveted award issued by the Michelin Guides of the Michelin tire company. The company has been publishing these guidebooks since 1900 as a way to encourage people to travel in order to visit the restaurants listed in the guides. A restaurant can earn up to three Michelin stars and gaining or losing a star can significantly impact that restaurant’s success.
Why Were Michelin Inspectors in Florida?
Michelin inspectors were invited by Visit Orlando and other Florida-based tourism bureaus. The International Director of the Michelin Guides, Gwendal Poullennec, expressed excitement to share Florida’s culinary scene with the world and introduce patrons to new restaurants, chefs, and experiences.

The Michelin Star event was held outdoors at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida. iRentEverything provided a large event tent with sidewalls, which ensured that the weather and temperatures couldn’t impact the event in any way. We are proud to have been a part of this event that helped to showcase some of what makes Florida great.
An event tent is a must for any outdoor event so that you’ll know that it can go off without a hitch, even if the weather turns out to be unpredictably bad. The sidewalls are also essential to protect both hosts and attendees from the hot and humid Florida summer weather.
Which Restaurants Won a Michelin Star?
15 Florida restaurants were granted Michelin stars at the Michelin Star event this June. This year is the first year Michelin has had guides for Orlando, Miami, and Tampa and the restaurants that were honored include:
- Ariete (one star, Miami)
- Boia De (one star, Miami)
- Capa (one star, Orlando)
- Cote Miami (one star, Miami)
- The Den at Sushi Azabu Miami (one star, Miami)
- Elcielo Miami (one star, Miami)
- Hiden (one star, Miami)
- Kadence (one star, Orlando)
- Knife & Spoon (one star, Orlando)
- L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami (two stars, Miami)
- Le Jardinier Miami (one star, Miami)
- Los Félix (one star, Miami)
- Soseki (one star, Orlando)
- Stubborn Seed (one star, Miami)
- The Surf Club Restaurant (one star, Miami)
There were fourteen restaurants that earned one Michelin star, ten located in Miami and four in Orlando. One of those, Knife & Spoon, is located at the Orlando Ritz Carlton where the event was held. One restaurant, L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon Miami, earned two Michelin stars.
